🌱 CNLJC Discipleship: The Four E’s
At Colossians New Life in Jesus Church (CNLJC), discipleship is more than just learning—it’s a transformational journey of encountering Christ, growing in faith, and making disciples. Our Four E’s of Discipleship guide this process:
🔥 1. ENCOUNTER – Experience Christ’s Life-Changing Power
Every journey begins with a personal encounter with Jesus. This stage focuses on evangelism, salvation, and experiencing God’s love in a real way. It is in this moment that hearts are awakened, and people realize their deep need for a Savior. Encountering Christ leads to repentance, renewal, and the first step in a lifelong relationship with Him. This can happen through worship, prayer, witnessing a miracle, or hearing the gospel in a way that resonates deeply.
📖 Key Scriptures: John 3:16, Acts 2:38
📖 2. EQUIP – Grow in the Word and in Faith
Once we meet Christ, we need to be equipped with His truth. This stage is about spiritual growth and gaining a firm foundation in God’s Word. Through Bible study, mentorship, and prayer, believers develop the spiritual disciplines that sustain their faith. Equipping also includes learning to apply biblical principles in daily life, overcoming struggles with God’s strength, and preparing to minister to others. A disciple at this stage must be intentional in studying Scripture, joining a life group, and seeking guidance from mature believers.
📖 Key Scriptures: 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Ephesians 4:12
🤝 3. ENGAGE – Live Out Your Faith in Action
Faith is meant to be lived! In this stage, disciples move beyond learning and start actively living out their faith. They serve in ministries, share the gospel, and build Christ-centered relationships in their communities. This is where faith is tested and strengthened—through service, evangelism, and being a light in the world. Engaging in discipleship also means being accountable to others, growing through real-life experiences, and demonstrating God’s love through actions. This stage challenges believers to put their faith into motion and develop a heart for people.
📖 Key Scriptures: James 2:17, Matthew 5:16
🚀 4. EMPOWER – Lead, Multiply, and Advance God’s Kingdom
Mature disciples are empowered to disciple others, lead ministries, and impact the world for Christ. This stage is about multiplication—helping others experience their own journey through the Four E’s. Empowerment means stepping into leadership roles, mentoring new believers, planting churches, engaging in missions, and advancing God’s Kingdom. A disciple who reaches this stage has developed a deep personal relationship with Christ and seeks to guide others in doing the same. True discipleship is not complete until we are actively making disciples ourselves.
📖 Key Scriptures: Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8
💡 Discipleship is a journey, not a destination. As we walk through the Four E’s, let’s grow together in Christ, deepen our love for Him, and boldly live out our faith!
